POOLGRINDThese are some photographs taken by Stu Busby in Berlin from this summers excursion, it consisted of riding to North Shields ferry, sail to Ijmouden, ride to Dreihuis, train to short stay in Amsterdam, train to short stay in Berlin, train to Dessau, get wild at Melt Festival, back to Berlin for 2 weeks and a bit, train to Amsterdam, short stay in Leiden, Ferry from Ijmouden back to North Shields. It was a fairly laid back holiday as far as a intense riding trip goes but still covered a hell of a lot of miles on the bikes found fresh stuff old and new and got amongst some serious German partying ‘Schtempfin und Schtompfin’!

BOOSTNIPPLE

Tuck on the tit – This was in a park somewhere in the Mitte area of Berlin, it had a upside version next to it which was basically a tiny steep bowl that was weird to ride, found it via the net and was aptly named Titte in Mitte.

PEGS2RUBBLEDODGE

Rail to hop over – Found this rail just off the main road of Frankfurter Tor, was made more fun by the 90 hop on and the shite in way of the landing so you had to grind to hopover onto a higher step to dodge it.

OPPOSITE180B

Opposite 180 b on the v bank – If you go to berlin i’m pretty sure you’ll ride or at least see this spot (plus theres 3 indentical ones). They’re at the bottom of the huge tv tower in Alexanderplatz which you can see from pretty much all the surrounding area which is good for navigating which direction you need to head if you want to freestyle your routes across the city as opposed to stopping with maps.

BIGHOLEBOOST

Boost out of the hole – This was basically a huge concrete circle that was part of a buildings structure, it was amongst a set of incredibly modern and expensive looking buildings that included a hi-tech bizzie station just over from Hauptbahnhof. I’m guessing it was something to do with government due to all the conference rooms with screens that came down from the roof as well being adjacent to the Reichstag building.

BARSPINWAVES

Barspin on the street trails – Thanks go to meccy john for finding this gem, was basically a straight ride up a main road from Turmstrasse towards Tegel Aiport, it was packed with skaters that seemed intent on snaking you on purpose but it is Berlin after all and there was a concrete park round the corner so messed on there till it was quieter.

GAPSMITH

Gap to smith – Ultra slidey ledges everywhere, sweet curved manny pad but ‘Nein jumpen!’ outside of the 02 World building which pissed people off being built in the east side and rightly so it’s absolutley huge and horribly modern, no complaints about the ledges though.

POOLGRIND

Peg grind in the pool – This was our home for the majority of the time we spent in berlin, it’s in the tentstation campsite right next to Hauptbahnhof. The disused pool is multi-purpose with it being a basket ball court, dancefloor for tango to techno nights, huge projector screen complete with the pools bleachers turns it into a cinema and it has a not too shabby sub box at the top of the deep end banks. I love Berlin.
