4Down have just released a complilation of all their web edits from 2008. I personally think it’s a great idea, and especially happy it includes my favourite edit, the ‘on the road with’ where they head to Aberdeen, not least becasue they ride my two favourite places, Leeds and Prissik. I caught up with the man behind all this, James Cox to find out all about it!

Lavar has been quietly kicking ass for a while now, and they’re back after a short break wth their 2009 line. They’ve got two new team riders, Raul Ruiz and Andrew Jackson, and a solid range of threads. We caught up with Mike Ardelean to ask him about it all, and as a web exclusive, showcase the new range. This stuff has literally just landed in the UK, and should be available shortly from your nearest decent bike shop.

Wethepeople has been a constant solid aspect of the European BMX scene for some time. Always pushing the envelope and always supporting BMX from every angle they could. They’re synomamous with forward thinking and hooking up the coolest riders, who seem to pop out of nowhere. I wanted to know what was up for WTP in 2009, so I caught up with Leeds ex-pat and WTP do it all man Rob Harrison. Read on.

I hit up Cleggy to see if he was up for venting his thoughts on the way he thinks BMX will go in 2009. Not only is he the first industry type to get content to me the same day, it also came out ten times better than I even could have hoped, read on….

Firstly, I’m sorry this is so late, Bert and Ollie did a really job with the pictures and it’s a shame they’ve been lying around on somebody’s hard drive. Anyway, without further ado, here’s the Ely scene check, and Ollie’s words on it:
At the moment Ely is one of the fastest growing Cities in Europe, it has a small population around 14,000 but our status is boosted with the 3rd largest cathedral in the Country. On the edge of the Fens and 15 miles to Cambridge we seem to be in the middle of a lot of scenes. With Corby, Saffron Walden, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, Peterborough, Kings Lynn and London within an hour on the train it leaves us lots of options to choose what we want to ride and meet other riders.
Our scene is fairly chilled and we ride what is available as we lack the street of the North. We’re not picky so half the time we end up riding the curbs down the local car park. I think everyone has there own style, own bike set up and own approach as well as an acceptance towards other people, always inviting them to come out for a ride. Through this approach we have made some awesome contacts over the region and it’s hard to go somewhere these days without bumping into someone we know or having a chat to other the lads to find out what there about.
We’re never quiet, always clapping when someone lands something, cheering each other on, offering advice to the younger and upcoming generation and laughing about stupid jokes constantly, appreciating what BMX means to us and how we practise it.

A little bit later than expected, here in the first in the line of the ‘Your Scene’ series. I grew up riding in York, and the once small scene has expanded and matured into a force worth reckoning with. They don’t take themselves too seriously, aren’t keen to follow the latest trends, and I know it’s cliche, just have fun on their bikes. Click the link to see Angus MacPherson’s, York’s premium shredder and man behind the lens, view on the scene.

About a year ago I went up London on a supposed summers day to meet up with James Smith and Co to have a little pedal round Cantelowes and the local street spots. It was all going peachy until the dark clouds of summer set in just as we all went to eye up this wheel chair launcher one of the riders wanted to b’s. The name of said rider was Sam Collisson and his mate Jake wrote a few words about him. Enjoy the photo! Read the rest of this entry »
