NonStop Matty Lambert

Alright Matty, how was Christmas and New Year for you?
New Year was quality, a lot of the Liverpool riders all went out so was a quality night. As far as riding goes, its the UK so everyone knows what the weather was like.

Your working on your second video now "Nonstop" how's that coming along?
It's coming together quite well. It's going a lot slower that I thought: if it' doesn't rain its stays wet, as soon as it's dry it rains, vicious circle.

Have you faced many problems with the English weather this summer, has it delayed the progress of the video?
Yeah it's delayed it, by like 5 months.

You've recently made a website that has the same title of the video, whats the idea behind the site?
Well, i wanted to make another video, but i wanted it to be viewable worldwide. So i'm going to put it on the net for free, in high quality on my site. The Video is called NONSTOP.. i couldn't get nonstop.com, so thats why my site is called nonstopvid.com.

Who's going to be making an appearance in Nonstop? and where is most the filming taking place?
It will mainly be Scott Ditchburn, Jason Phelan, Ben Lewis and Bengo, with riding from others such as Harry Main, Addi and Loz Taylor.  It's filmed around Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and North Wales

How did you come up with the name and the idea for Non Stop?
BMX for a lot of people is a massive part of their lives, for some it's what makes them most happy, for others it's an escape from work or other things. No matter where you go in the world, BMX is like an international language, i've ridden with people who could hardly speak any English, but we could communicate through riding. BMX changes things about you and you start to notice, rails, ledges, weird shaped buildings wherever you go, whether you have your bike with you or not. Without even trying, BMX is Nonstop in our lives and thats the reason for the title of my video.

Lots of BMX companies have made web videos over the last year or two like Mosh, Federal and recently Primo. Do you reckon that the online web video will push the full length DVD’s out the way completely or will there always be a place for a DVD collection?
Web edits are more disposable than DVDs, but as internet speeds increase and peoples computers are getting faster, I feel the amount of High quality web edits will increase. Web edits are a more one and one thing and you still cant beat the quality of DVD and sitting back watching it with your mates. Sometimes web edits give you a taster for the DVD, it gives you an idea of what you're going to buy and can get you excited for the DVD release. So although I feel high quality web edits will increase, BMX DVDs will still hold their place as long as people stop ripping them to the internet.

What setup are you using for filming and editing?
I edit with Final Cut pro and Adobe After effects
I film with Sony Fx7e, a raynox dcr fe180 lens, and a 100w video light

What's the music direction going to be like on the new video, your last one had quite a bit of hip hop on it, was that your choice or the riders choice?
The video will be a lot different from my last one. Check the trailer.

Which film makers inspirer you and what would you say is your favorite film or BMX video of 2007?
I like what Ryan Navazio did with left right, nice titles, good filming, well edited. Definately my favourite for both riding and editing.

Talking about 2007, we saw the release of your first video "What Ya Lookin At" how do you feel that went down?
Its one of the first videos i've seen from the North West of England
It went down quite well. I sold them all, so i'm pleased about that.

Right just before we wrap this up when do you think Non Stop will be finished?
It's getting later and later now and its not my fault, It'll be online at end of Feb. But there will be a park edit going up by the end of this month.

Anything else?
