Alex Barton-Holme aka Fathead has just had an interview go out in the latest issue of The Albion magazine. I haven’t had a chance to grab a copy yet but anyways have you ever wondered what goes into shooting an interview? Well 4Down’s James Cox went along to document a bit of the going’s on with The Albion’s Dan Benson and Fathead as they clocked photos for the interview. As you can expect Fathead has some choice words to say, some amazing riding and a handful of bad slams too. He’s put in some hard work on this interview by the looks of it.
Intro words by Bertie Buck
In the novel The Dice Man, the hero makes every decision from the roll of a dice, making him extremely unpredictable. Before he discovered the way of the dice his life was boring and unfulfilling, but the chance and infinite possibility changed his life. As his fame grew he gained followers and investment from stock brokers, hoping to introduce that very important element of chance.
Similar qualities are present in Jake’s personality and riding. Ashley Charles once described his riding as erratic, and unpredictable. Jake openly admits he goes into some lines not knowing what he is going to try. It is this element of chance and unpredictability that makes his riding his own, interesting and at times scary to watch.
No matter what’s going on in my life, however much I am stressing about work, I know with confidence Jake will be out there not giving a fuck about any of the things that worry me and doing the same weird stuff as he always has. The anti-hero, the Big Lebowski of bmx.

Peg-less shredder Safe Nath rips up some streets and probably his jeans (on the first clip) in this edit from Animal via 4Down. Really worth a watch, it won’t take up more than two minutes of your time. Banging…
Nice little edit from the guys at The Source BMX in Hastings. They’ve just hooked up another member to the team who goes by the name of Jordan O’Kane. He demonstrates his moves in and around Hastings at the outdoor park, The Source Bowl, 4Down Park and a few street spots for “good measure”.
Devo – Mr B’s Ballroom
Pijin BMX’s Carlos Gomez put this edit up just less than 24 hours ago featuring team riders Jon Root and Jordan Aleppo. Lot of spin-tech trickery and a bit of backwards rail action at the Seventies “Our House” and 4down “Their House” skateparks in Hastings. Just to note Carlos you need to check your focus on the fisheye shots, you’re not having a seizure, its just not in focus so don’t worry viewers!!
Awolnation Feat. Wale – Guilty Filthy Soul (Sam Ronson Remix)
The 4Down/Etnies park is getting a good hammering at the moment and theirs no sign of it slowing with this new edit by the RADBMX guys. It’s got Kink’s Lloyd Wright and Mankind’s Isaac Lesser in it but I can’t really tell who the others are. Give me your names, in the mean time enjoy it.
EDIT: Featuring Sam Cunningham, James Ivett, Billy Purcell, Josh Wyles Luke Duffy and Team Sloth
Little Dragon – Shuffle a Dream
The 4Down/Etnies skatepark has been getting quite a bit of action over the past couple of months. With edits from Ben Lewis, CrucialBMX and now 20Twenty’s Chris Currie. I’ve met Chris a couple of times, on the Seventies Summer Shop Tour earlier this year and also at the BSD x Unit 23 Hellawine Jam. He’s a nice guy with an awesome beard and has a great riding style on his bike. Check out this different take on riding at the megaplex.
Ben Lewis gives “The 4Down Park” some tech treatment in this great edit.
