Soul 24: Sheffield Scene Report

/

January 5, 2014

/ Pete

This came out between NSF 2 and Voices, and features just about everyone who was good on a bike and lived within a 20 mile radius of Sheffield at the time. I feel like not too many people will have seen it so I thought it was worth uploading. Highlights include Newrick starting an enduring love affair with the pegs hardway and Marv doing a cracking x-up ice down the Hate rail.

More urban than Westwood posing with his T shirt over his face in front of a block of flats. More festive than Jesus and Santa forgetting their differences and enjoying a mulled wine in front of a log fire. More pegs than the total number of bikes ridden in the video multiplied by 3.99999.

Here’s the last two parts of the TWW epic trailer style teaser that SAF have put out in advance of ODVD. Looking forward to that dropping! It goes without saying that the riding is mint but the skaters who knock about with these lads always do some awesome jibs as well. Seen on the SAF blog which currently features a melon based shark helmet. Great minds…

This time its NSF/T2S-SAF liason officer Evan Gallagher. Rest assured, you will not see too many smithnozzabees. Not his style.

The SAF boys are at it again, got to to the can-can 60/40 and I thought I should probably just go ahead and post it without watching the rest as it’s definitely legit. More bonks in 4 minutes than renowned lover Silvio Berlusconi gets in a month.

PhD Completion Edit

I just started back at work after finishing my PhD in June, so I put together all the remaining clips I got over the last few years that haven’t seen the light of day. One of the reasons I did the PhD was so I could ride more, but I’d always feel like I should be working if I took I day off so I never really enjoyed it, and riding on your own is not much fun anyway. So I think I’ll probably get to ride almost as much now I’ve got a proper job, and I’ll get paid. Also, my hairdresser always used to stop talking to me once I told him I was a student so it’ll be nice to chat to him I suppose.

Anyway, this is leftovers from Grey Haven intermingled with a few random clips that I’ve picked up and a side order of self filmed moves that I couldn’t in good conscience put anyone through filming.

I used to ride with Ian a lot back around 2005-2006, and he was always dropping weird unexpected grinds.  Looks like it was a habit before he came up North as well, you don’t see an un Luc-e of that size too often even now! He’s in Vietnam these days, which raises the question of where the hell a man with such neck girth goes to purchase a shirt in Hanoi.  Ian’s a top dude, I hope he’s realised his dream of licking a giraffe (might have been just touching? I forget…). If you ever meet him, make sure you get him to tell the tale of the time he ran into a load of Warhammer enthusiasts dressed as Orcs in Jesmond Dene. At 3 in the morning. While he was tripping.

The NSFYC continue to get out in the streets. I doubt there will be much sympathy in the Cycle Centre when that wheel goes in for a truing.

Federal: Seventies Warehouse/Scott Taylor section from Federal Remixed

/

February 28, 2013

I thought this section from Scott Taylor deserved a bit of exposure as I don’t think many people saw it at the time and it’s got some great moves in it. It’s attached to a Seventies warehouse session which isn’t too shabby either. Not sure exactly when it came out but it’s evidently before Scott discovered tattoos and Dan Lacey discovered hair gel so I’d say that puts it at about 2008.
