Ryan Lilburn: Rob Annis – Chainless
Okay so it was a couple of weeks ago Ryan Lilburn got in touch with me to tell me that he was dropping a new edit of a young rider by the name of Rob Annis who rides chainless. I thought to my self “why the hell is he riding chainless?” Having to push your bike like a scooter for run ups won’t be that easy to do and i’m guessing it would put you off a little if you’ve got to send yourself..
Anyways I spoke a little with Ryan about Rob and turns out apart from just having his 18th Birthday (Happy Birthday Rob) he also snapped his chain a couple of months back and never got round to buying a new one. Rob had been wanting a freecoaster wheel for a bit but couldn’t justify the spend at the time so instead he took his sprocket off and just pushed and pumped the bike to get the speed he needed.
I mentioned to Ryan that I really liked the choice of music in the edit, nice to hear an alternative pick of a tune for a BMX edit and it worked with the visuals. Turned out that Ryan had just bought a new camera that he was eager to test and also wanted to put together something a bit different along with a different tune. In total the edit was filmed in 7 separate days over 9 weeks, trying to get clips in between work and bad weather.
The song choice is by Stephan Bodzin and the track is called ‘Zulu’ off of his Boiler Room mix in Berlin (live version).
